Your girlfriend has just told you she thinks she might be pregnant, and your heart drops. Your mind is whirling with questions and concerns. She thinks it is early enough in her pregnancy to take the pills for a medical abortion. However, maybe it’s more expensive than you can afford.

Can You Pay For Her Abortion With Your Insurance?

The short answer is no. If you were married, the answer might be different, but there are no domestic partner laws in Nevada that allow an unmarried partner’s insurance to pay for medical services.

Nevada Medicaid Coverage

If your girlfriend is not covered under your insurance and she doesn’t have health insurance, she may be eligible for Nevada Medicaid for her healthcare expenses.

As of March 2024, Nevada Judge Ballou ruled that the state of Nevada must include abortion in its Medicaid program. The ruling mandates Nevada taxpayers fund abortion, but it is unclear whether the state will appeal the decision.

What Can You Do To Help?
